about us

What is Contrast Therapy

In the heat of the sauna, your body begins to open—breath slows, tension softens, and warmth settles into your muscles. Then comes the cold—sharp, immediate, clarifying. The shock gives way to stillness.

Contrast therapy is the practice of alternating between heat and cold—a deliberate reset for body and mind.

The practice is simple: heat, cold, rest—repeated at your own pace. You’re not pushing harder. You’re learning to stay present through sensation, breath, and stillness.

Circulation and recovery

Circulation and recovery

Heat opens the body. Cold sharpens it. Together, they reset how you move and recover.

Reduced muscle tension

Reduced muscle tension

In the heat, muscles soften. Tension drops away.

Mood and mental clarity

Mood and mental clarity

After the cold, there’s clarity. A quiet mind. Steady breath.

Mood and mental clarity

Stress resilience

Over time, your breath steadies. Your nervous system learns resilience.

Please note: Contrast therapy is a wellness practice, not a medical treatment. If you have cardiovascular conditions, are pregnant, or have any health concerns, please consult your doctor before participating.

The Experience

You arrive at Imhoff Farm. The pace changes. The air feels cleaner, the sounds softer—wind, birds, distant ocean. You step into the sauna and the warmth wraps around you, not rushed, not clinical. Your breathing deepens. Muscles loosen. Thoughts quiet down.

When you’re ready, you move to the cold plunge. The first second is a shock—then clarity. Your breath returns, you settle into the moment, and everything narrows to sensation and stillness. Afterward, you rest. The contrast lingers: warm skin, quiet mind, steady heartbeat—grounded.

Sessions can be guided or self-directed. Some prefer structure and encouragement. Others want quiet, independent practice. Either way, you move at your own pace—no performance, no pressure.

frequently asked questions

FAQs

Common questions about contrast therapy, booking, and what to expect.

Is contrast therapy safe?

For most people, yes. If you have cardiovascular conditions, are pregnant, or have other health concerns, please consult your doctor before participating.

I’ve never done this before. Will I be okay?

Absolutely. You control the experience. Stay in the sauna as long as it feels right, enter the cold plunge at your own pace. There’s no “correct” way to do this—listen to your body.

Can I come alone or do I need to book with others?

You can book as an individual or as a group. Sessions accommodate up to 6 people, so you may share the space with others unless you book a private session.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We allow cancellations up to 24 hours before your booking time.

What’s the difference between guided and self-directed sessions?

Guided sessions include an orientation and suggested timing. Self-directed sessions give you full autonomy to move between the sauna and plunge at your own rhythm. Both options are available.

How often should I do contrast therapy?

There’s no prescription. Some people come a few times a week, others weekly. Listen to your body and find what works for you.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes, but just once. When you create your account, you’ll complete a brief health declaration and agree to our Terms & Conditions. This is a one-time process that takes a couple of minutes. After that, you can book sessions anytime without needing to complete the waiver again.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, a towel, and a water bottle. We provide additional towels and water if needed.

Is there an age limit?

Participants must be at least 16 years old. Those aged 16-17 require parental consent and must be accompanied by a responsible adult during their session.
